However, a machine that is voted best of best is often because it is very adjustable and can be used with the widest variety of body types and still retain the best biomechanics. Additionally, some extreme body types (very short, very tall, very large, etc.) might work better with some equipment rather than others. This thread is about individual machines. The short answer is that no company makes all of the best equipment, not even close. Certainly best bang for the buck is always relevant as well, but the thread is primarily focused on what is the best product available. This thread is simply about discussing all the choices of various free weights and machine choices on the market that people feel represent the best choice, regardless of cost. Rae Crowthers was the best I have dealt with in all aspects.Īgain, this is not meant to be a free weights vs machines thread, and I think we got that out of the way early in the thread. A lot of rack producers will only do small changes or let you adjust the height. If you have an idea, or want any crazy thing done, Hans at Rae Crowthers is likely to accommodate you. Rae Crowthers was able to produce the craziest, coolest, highest quality rack exactly the way I wanted it. To this date, the best rack I have come across is a custom Rae Crowthers power Rack, completely customized. I believe all of the top rack choices have been covered earlier in this thread and will continue to be discussed as new rack designs are released. The conclusion on cost no object racks is that complete custom is the true cost no object rack: you pick the exact height you want, pick custom attachments, etc. There are even Hydraulic racks with infinite adjustment, so while it is nice to discuss racks, there are quite a few cost no object racks. I think it is best to stay away from racks since there are tons of great rack choices on the market, and people have different priorities when it comes to picking their cost no object rack. I am focusing primarily on machines, benches, attachments, and bars. I'm always looking for opinions on machines that are the best and the best, and worthy of checking out.I thought I would try to summarize some of the highlights of this thread now that it is getting fairly long. the pictures of the pullover and all of the other machines and debates are in this thread if anyone is interested: The Hammer strength fit me very well, as good as any of the Nautilus machines. I demoed the Hammer Strength Pullover at an LA Fitness in Studio City, Los Angeles this past November. A lot based on research done here and other forums, 30 years experience, tons of demoing at many may gyms, and lots of good people in these forums opinions. the reasons were because I felt they represented the best of the best machines for that body part. I got 6 pieces of Hammer Strenght this past January, a couple Sorinex pieces, elite FTS pieces, Star Trac pieces, and 10 pieces of Atlantis Fitness. I'm still waiting on a Cybex VR3 arm extension with the heavy stack, a Strive Leg extension, and now this HS pullover. I guess spending this kind of cash I have to demo it first.Īs a follow-up and the original poster of this thread, I purchased a brand new Hammer Strength Pullover a couple days ago: meaning I put it on order at Hammer Strength/Life Fitness. There is a nother place but it is an hour away. I doubt they would give me permission to chack it out even though it is in my township. There is one in the high school 3 blocks up the road, from this printout Lifefitness gave me, but I don t see how I'm walking into a high school. Anyway, I think I will be able to demo the Hammer Strength Plate Loaded Pullover within 1-2 days. gotta see if the Hammer Strength kneeling leg curl is the same or better for me. Tried the Star Track version of the Flex Fitness kneelign leg curl tonight and I can verify it is IDENTICAL to the older Flex Fitness hamflexor. Lifefitness got back to me today with some places to demo it, along with an MTS Kneeling leg curl from Hammer Strength I've always been curious about. Getting a bunch of Hammer Strength as well, so I'm considering the Plate Loaded Pullover but haven t tried it yet. Elite FTS Pro rickshaw coming along with Collegiate power rack. The reason I ask is I'm buying cost no object stuff for a home gym and I'm trying to make the right choices.
